Despite considerable improvements over the past years, traditional methods for the assessment of traffic status – specifically congestion detection – still lack precision and reliability, which is mostly related to system inherent weaknesses of methodologies applied. The objective is therefore to combine and fuse information/data originating from different methods to greatly improve quality and reliability of traffic status information.
